Lisburn Downtown Centre values our big team of volunteers.  We organise volunteer training from a wide range of organisations.  

Listed below are new training and information days.  If there are any sessions that interest you, please contact Karla (info@downtowncentre.org or 02890 672052) to receive more information regarding course details and the application process.

HEALTH DEVELOPMENT TRAINING DAYS:

ASIST – 10th and 11th November 2015, Bayview Bangor (2 full days).  Course details: This 2 day course helps all kind of care givers to learn a suicide 1st aid intervention.  The emphasis is on helping a person to stay safe and seek further help.

Safe Talk – 9th December 9am-1pm, Kyle Room Bayview Bangor.  Course details: Learn 4 basic steps to recognise persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them with suicide helping resources.

Engage – 17th and 24 Novmeber OR 1st and 8th December.  Course details: Gain an insight into the broad determinants of men’s health.  Including how gender influences men’s approach to looking after their own health.  Understand practice guidelines, be aware of barriers,  and how to set up and support effective group work with men.

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY EVENT (Carer Coffee Morning) Friday 9th October 10.30am-12pm, Dobbie’s Garden Centre, Lisburn

ADVANCE DIRECTIVES for families, partners and friends supporting a loved one who has experienced mental illness.  Tuesday 22nd September 9.30am-12.30pm, Lisburn Civic Centre  (light lunch provided)
